Washday Week for Lent
Washday was a new project for Lent, initiated by the Diocese of Oxford, and recommended by the national church. It was a great opportunity to tell the Easter story in a fun and creative way, a new approach to Maundy Thursday where Jesus surprised his friends by washing their feet to show his love.
From Monday 9th March to the Saturday 15th March the children in Class 1 participated in Washday Week, both at home and at school. It was an opportunity to go out and wash anything and everything!
The following week the children brought in their photographs of their washday activities and shared their experiences with the other children. So much was washed that week – dishes, windows, sheds, fire places, floors, outdoor play equipment, slides, hair, clothes, themselves, pets and even feet. The children worked very hard and were very proud of their achievements.
